  • CHARITY BITES Zack... And Zack Bites Back (The book that'll shake the ground in '11)

Internationally-known Autism Activist, Host, and Comedian, Zack Gonzalez, has returned with yet another knock-out memoir: Charity Bites!. This time, a comedy memoir that is actually not dishing on the autism experience. Instead, Zack caps on the world of autism activism sharing his outrageous experiences that emerged when he decided to become a public advocate. From the overbearing hate mail, to behind-the-scene of his show “it’s on with Zack,” to practically getting kicked off a planning committee at age sixteen (which he refers to as getting “tooted and booted”), to going crazy--literally, to charity embezzlement, to getting screwed out of money, to exposing “charity bandits,” to over-working himself, to taking on the big dogs, to defeating his own arch enemies, Zack tells it all… using comedy? Yup! Zack tells it all using his ever-so witty, sarcastic (and sometimes foul) mouth.

“We’ve all had these experiences,” one reader commented emphasizing that the book is very relatable.

“Honest and hilarious,” another reader added.

“Sometimes Zack has a potty mouth – and he’s magically snarkalicious, I can promise you that.  Both attributes endeared him to me and serve to bring the reader fully into his sense of outrage, determination and love for his brother ‘Deets,’ ” wrote activist and managing editor of the online publication, Age of Autism, Kim Stagliano. The author of her very own “Kimoir,” All I Can Handle: I’m No Mother Teresa, also added, “While some siblings become angry, resentful and may even turn their back on their sib, Zack is a very cool example of a young man who has stepped up and stepped into the limelight to help his family.” She closed the Foreword for the book with, “Settle back and enjoy the read. I sure did.”

“Reading Charity Bites! is like having the key to Zack Gonzalez’s journal and reading his innermost thoughts on what it’s like to be a young adult navigating the charity world.  I learned that sometimes there isn’t a lot of charity to be found.”

“I love how it’s like [Zack's] talking directly to you,” another anonymous reader said after reading Zack’s latest book, making it clear that this is not a boring trash-talking book, but a juicy page turner that’ll leave you in tears… of laughter.

“Don’t screw over Zack, he’ll write a book about you and everyone will know how big of a douche bag you are…unless you’re into that kind of thing. Creeper,” Deborah Noonan, author of the Charity Bites! Second Foreword, wrote warning people to not dare take on the youngest, most fearless autism activist there is.

“This has been one crazy journey through hell. It’s my adventures of being a teenage boy, saving the world, writing books, hosting a radio show, managing a t-shirt line, speaking to people, fighting with people, getting called an a**hole, getting asked to leave committees, losing old ladies (don’t ask), finding a Gorilla-Whistle lady, running a business, talking dirty, making jokes, and defeating my very own arch-enemy… All while advocating for autism,” Zack writes in the chapter titled “Are You There, Sanity? It’s Me, Zack!”

Zack concludes his book with these closing words, “Reading this book, you may [think] that I hate being an activist and I hate being involved in the autism charity world. That is one-hundred percent false. I love it. If I could go back in time and decide whether or not to choose this path, hell freakin’ yeah I’d do it again. Without a doubt, baby. It’s been a crazy ride, but a ride worth while. This is all for you Deeties! I love you!! You and all the other hardworking activist that have worked your a**es off. That believed in recovery and stopped at nothing to see it. All the Mommy Warriors, Autie-Daddies, Sibling A**-Kickers, and amazing Activists. This one’s for all-a-y’all!”

The book even has a brief sneak peak into his second comedy memoir titled, ZACK BITES!: The Untold Stories of the No-Longer Secret Life of a REAL American Teenager, which debuts in 2012.

CHARITY BITES!: The Untold Stories of the Dog-Eat-Dog World of Autism Activism goes on sale June 14, 2011. You can pre-order it on www.ZackGonzalez.com this April!
